The Ministry proudly celebrates two of Zimbabwe’s exceptional athletes, Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Nontokozo Ncube, for their outstanding achievements on the global stage.
Tapiwanashe Makarawu has delivered a historic performance at the Miramar Invitational, clocking a sensational 14.96 seconds Personal Best in the 150m. This remarkable run not only places him as No. 2 in the world this season, but also crowns him Africa’s fastest over the distance in 2026.
By shattering the African record and setting a new benchmark for Zimbabwean sprinting, Makarawu has affirmed that Zimbabwean talent can compete and excel at the highest level of world athletics.
Equally inspiring is Nontokozo Ncube, whose new 800m Personal Best of 2:04.72 at LSU’s Battle on the Bayou marks a significant milestone in her rising career.
Now the second fastest in University of Minnesota history, a performance that reflects discipline, growth, and immense potential.
These achievements are more than personal milestones they are national victories.
